165th ACNFP Meeting

The 165th meeting of the ACNFP will be held on Wednesday the 17th of April 2024. Further details to follow.

Executive Summary

• Cannabidiol (CBD) - Two Committee Advice Documents (CADs) from the CBD Subcommittee on CBD applications; RP427 (Group A) and RP793 (Group B) were reviewed. The members advised the Secretariat to request further information for RP427. They also agreed on the CADs subject to amendments.
• 2’-Fucosyllactose (2’FL), 3’-Syllactose (3’SL) and 6’-Syllactose (6’SL) - The Committee also reviewed additional information provided for three breastmilk oligosaccharide applications; 2’-FL (RP1476), 3’-SL (RP1477) and 6’-SL(RP1478). Members agreed the Committee Advice Documents subject to amendments, to be cleared by Chair’s action.
• Olive Fruit Extract standardised in Hydroxytyrosol (RP1074) - The Committee reviewed the toxicological data for this application with a view to identifying a way forward. The current data was not sufficient to support the safety of the novel food. The Secretariat will be working with the applicant to identify a way forward for the application.  
• Vitamin D2 mushroom powder (RP1550) - The Committee reviewed the further data provided by the applicant for vitamin D2 mushroom powder.  The Committee advised that further information on the production process be sought to complete the assessment. The Secretariat will be considering the options for the assessment of this novel food and if appropriate seek further information from the applicant.
• GM dossiers (RP1868 and RP1869) – The Committee reviewed the Committee Advice Documents that had been assessed and agreed by the PGT subcommittee. The documents were agreed subject to amendments to be cleared by Chair’s action.
• Lastly, the Committee was updated on the work carried out to support the development of the regime intended to regulate precision breed organisms. This provided a basis for a workshop with the ACNFP on the technical guidance that is being developed to support the new regime in early May.
